Detailed Answer:
hello and thank you for sending the question.

I am sorry that you're dealing with persistent constipation. There are a couple of medications that you can take by mouth that might help to alleviate your symptoms. One of these is called MiraLAX which can be obtained over-the-counter at the pharmacy. You can take this to her three times a day and this might help.

another over-the-counter medication is called Dulcolax which can also be taking 2 to 3 times per day for constipation. You can try this or the MiraLAX to see if it helps.

If your symptoms persist or seem to be getting worse then I would recommend that you see your primary care doctor for evaluation or reports your local emergency department. Sometimes abdominal imaging is necessary to rule out some type of intestinal obstruction.

I would recommend you stay well hydrated and try the over-the-counter medications mentioned above but if your symptoms are not better in 24 to 48 hours you should certainly see a local physician for evaluation.

Thank you again for sending your question.

Sincerely,

Dr. Galamaga
