Question : i have not had a bowel movement in a week. i gave myself an enema but nothing happened What should I do?
Brief Answer:
Try sena, psyllium, lactulose along with enema
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I understand your concern.
No worries. Apart enema, I advise to use:
- laxatives like sena (tea or candies) to induce bowel movement
- stool softeners like lactulose
- take psyllium supplements or plums/figs to ease bowel movement
- Increase water intake
- if they won't work in a couple of days, then milk of magnesia or magnesium sulfate to get a fast bowel movement, within several minutes after ingestion.
If you feel like going to bathroom, then use enema. Otherwise, if still no bowel movement, should go to ER.
Try sena and lactulose and psyllium first.
Hope it helps.
