                                    Brief Answer:
Take omeprazole
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have gone through the details you have provided.
I would suggest a 2 month course of a proton pump inhibitor like omeprazole. It is available as an over the counter medication.
Avoid alchohol, smoking
Limit tea or coffee too less than 3 cups
Avoid citrus fruits chocolate mint and red meat
Exercise for at least 30 to 40 minutes per day
Avoid lying down for at least 3 hours after a meal Take small and frequent meals
In case your symptoms persist after 2 months of medications you will need further investigations including an upper GI endoscopy.
Hope this helps
Do get back in case you have further queries

I have very much limited or rather stopped the consumption of alcohol, tea, coffee, citrus fruits, red meat.
I am also experiencing weight loss.
And as I already informed, I have visiteda doctor in past and have taken the medication though not sure about the medication i.e. whether it was omeprazole. Also, I have read about side effects of this drug.
Please advice if it is safe. Also the duration for which it should be taken and the dosage details.

                                    Brief Answer:
two months
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
The drug is safe. Side effects are usually seen after several years of continued use.
I would suggest to take 20 mg once a day for 2 months.
It is to be taken in the morning on an empty stomach.
in case the symptoms do not subside completely the dose can be increased to twice a day.
Is is available as an over the counter medication.
However I would suggest to undergo an upper GI endoscopy in case the symptoms persist after two months
Hope this helps
