Brief Answer:
Flu shot not 100% effective.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX
Thanks for your query at HCM.
I understand your concern and situation.
I realize that you have taken prophylaxis for malaria. Now that is unrelated. You seem to have developed upper respiratory tract infection. Mostly it is due to viral infection like influenza virus, para influenza virus, respiratory syncytial virus, adenovirus, bocavirus, etc. Flu shot is not 100% effective. It is mostly seasonal infection but if you are not having relief then you can get your nasopharyngeal throat swab examination done for viral testing by PCR. Get complete haemogram done. In meanwhile you can take antihistamines like cetrizine or loratadine, nasal decongestant like sudafed and NSAID like acetaminophen. Do saline gargle or chlorhexidine gargle for 5-6 times per day. Eat healthy and protein rich balanced diet with multivitamins and calcium supplements.
Take care.
