Question: I have a 7 month old baby boy with cough and a blocked nose. Doc has suggested 2.5ml of Salmodil syrup 3 times a day and lecovet once in a day. He completed 3 days on this medication but the cough is not reducing. He now has a blocked nose and a congested chest. Please suggest.

Brief Answer:
Viral illness - nothing to worry

Detailed Answer:
Hi....if your kid doesn't have any fast breathing or difficulty in feeding or bluish discoloration of fingers and lips, you need not worry about cough and cold.

Cough and cold are viral in origin 95% of the times in children. Usually it will start with fever and the kid will be active in between 2 fever spikes, but when the fever is regressing, cough will increase.

For blocked nose you can administer saline nasal drops like Nasivion-S 1 drop in each nostril, 4-6 times a day, whenever you feel the nose is blocked. If you give this before feeding and putting him to sleep, it will comfortable for the baby.

But if the cough is disturbing his sleep, you can continue Levocet for another 2 days. It will definitely get better.

If there is any other concern please get back to me. Otherwise if you are happy kindly close the discussion and rate the answer.
