Question : I have excess mucus in my mouth all the time and cough a lot and have found nothing that gives me relief. Two nights ago I took an Aleve for some aches from overworking in my garden and the next morning my mouth was dry. Can you explain this?

Detailed Answer:
Hello and Welcome

I appreciate your concern

Cause should be determined for the excess sputum and cough. Sputum for AFB (Acid fast Bacilli) , Montoux (PPD Testing) , Chest x ray , Complete blood count with ESR should be advised. Tuberculosis should be ruled out.

Lower respiratory tract infection , is the likely diagnosis and can be treated with a course of antibiotics, accordingly. Mucolytics like acetylcysteine can be advised to thin out the mucus and help in expectorating it.

Wishing you best of health

Thanks
