Question : Hello. My son is 2 years 10 months old. He weighs 16.4 kgs. He was having mild cough on Monday (15.Aug). From the night of 15th August, he was running temperature. On 16th, his temperature was around 101-102F, recurring after every 5-6 hours of crocin dose (5ml Crocin DS). He had severe cough and wheeze. We nebulized him with Asthalin (every 6 hourly) and took him to a doctor. The doctor asked us to continue nebulizing him every 6th hourly with Asthalin and 12th Hourly with Budecort. The temperature continued for the whole of 16th. The temperature started coming down from 17th. We started him on Azithral (5ml) from the evening of 17th. We continued nebulization. However, yesterday (17th) night, he recorded 101F of temperature around 12 midnight, and we gave him another dose of crocin. Today, the temperature seems to be hovering in 99s. The congestion is still there. He has one more dose of azithral pending for tomorrow.
We are also giving him Monetec Kid tablets (1 per day).
We wanted to check if we are on the right track, or there is anything else we could do? Thanks!

It is likely that your child has such an infection. Nebulization would be the mainstay of treatment. Most often nebulization is given with Asthalin and Budecort and I would not like to differ in this aspect. But in order to comment whether Azithral (an antibiotic: antibiotics are ineffective in viral infections) is needed, a clinical examination backed with blood counts would be necessary. But since you have started it, you should complete the course. The temperatures may continue for 5-7 days starting from the onset. You have to be patient and give antipyretics as needed. Gradually the temperatures will come down.
Continue to give Montec Kid for the next few days.
I do not see anything else that you need to do. Be patient. Things are on right track and should soon be fine.
