Suggest Treatment For Cough And Low Grade Fever
Question: I am helping a friend 1 week ago he got cough with a back ach he took advil and it helped he had a low grade fever 100.6 the fever is gone now but he is very congested in his lungs he can!t lie down without coughing not much is comming up and he gets short of breath. I just gave him some robitusin and he is trying to sleep what else should I do what would be the best plan?

You had given Tab. Advil to your friend & with it his fever/ back ache must be controlled to some extent. It seems he has dry cough. unable to lie in bed due to cough. Robitusin is over the counter medication for cough. It has a role to supress cold.
But to be more specific you can give him Tablet paracetamol Twice a day along with Benadryl cough syrup 1 TSF with warm water three times a day after food. If it is only allergic/ seasonal cough it should start resolving in a day or two. Give him light diet/ rest/ plenty of warm water/ let him do hot saline gargles & vapor inhalation if there is accompanying cold.
In case he is not well in 24 hours/ if cough & fever continue& he gets yellow expectoration.. you need to consult his family physician for physical examination/ investigations like CBC followed by prescribing specific antibiotic for his infection.

He is taking advil why is paracetamol or tylonol better
