If i was your treating physician , i would recommend over the counter cough syrups like:

1. Syrup Grillinctus- contains Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide, Chlorpheniramine Maleate,Guaiphenesinl,Ammonium Chloride. Take 1 teaspoon (5ml) three times a day for 1 week.

Please do warm water gargle twice daily.

It is relatively safe and has no addictive ingredients.It will give symptomatic relief.
