Question : Hello. Our 10 year old daughter had a cold and cough right before Thanksgiving. She had the whole green mucus and runny nose thing. She still has the cough and some crud but not as much. We gave her Mucinex for the chest mucus which seemed to help. We haven't given her any all week as she was getting better. On friday, the teacher called and said she was lethargic, complaining of a headache and seemed out of it. Her main complaint was a bad headache across her forehead. I gave her some children's ibuprofen and she slept that night. Yesterday (saturday) she was fine, no headache but still has lingering cold. Today, her headache came back and she is crying and visibly in discomfort. I gave her some ibuprofen and she is currently resting. She recently switched glasses (same perscription). We have surmised that she either has a sinus headache or her eyes have gotten worse and the "other" glasses may be too strong and she is adjusting. She hasn't had headaches like this in the past. She didn't have any head injuries or fall down. Are we doing the right thing or are we missing a greater problem? XXXXX

Brief Answer:
Any fevers?

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Is she having any fevers? If there are fevers, then I will say get her evaluated. If not, stop the brufen and give tylenol as much as 15mg/kg every 6-8hours without exceeding 2gs at once. Let's get this going for the next three days and should anything else comes up, kindly inform us.

Does she put on glasses at all times? Do you think she's a lot better at home than at school? Hope to hear back from you!.

Thanks for getting back. No fevers, just headache. Why Tylenol over ibuprofen? Just curious. She wears glasses all the time except when on her phone or Kindle. We are limiting those. As far as better at school or home, there is no difference in regards to headaches. Friday and today are the only times she has experienced them.

Brief Answer:
Tylenol is best for children!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Tylenol is best for children and has no ill outcomes as most infections are caused by viruses which may be problematic with other fever and pains relievers. Also, ibuprofen can cause stomach disorder and irritation which is not possible with Tylenol.

That's why am always on that as a preference. Besides, is it possible to let me know how she is feeling today?
