Question : I am spitting up globs of green guck and am coughing so badly that my chest, back and especially my throat are so sore I can barely stand it. Last night I coughed so hard I couldn't breathe and one needs to breathe to cough. I cough so much i can't sleep. Anyway, I went to my doctor who said I have a virus and that my lungs sound fine.
My question is how do I cough up globs of stuff if my lungs are fine?

Well, my doctor would not give me an antibiotic because he said it is viral and would not work on this because antibiotics do not work on viral infections.
He said if I get worse to let him know.
I would not say I'm worse, but certainly not better and have no idea how long this will take to clear my body.
My throat is so raw even a tiny cough hurts at this point.
Sounds like I just have to suck it up and deal with it.
