Suggest Treatment For Cracking Of Foreskin Of Penis
Question: Hi,
My foreskin is Cracking for some time now. Applying a cream Canesten (Clotrimazole cream)for some time now, but it does not go away easily. Recently I saw a small purple bump on the sham, which is numb and painless. Is this something that is serious and what are the suggested treatments.

I understand your concern
It seems to be a fungal infection with secondary bacterial infection.
I would advise following in such scenario:
1. To get Fasting Blood Sugar checked.
2. To apply Anti fungal Miconazole cream locally.
3. To mix antibiotic cream like Muproicin with Miconazole and apply locally. Initially I advise to apply this way for 5 days. Once the infection part is settled , I advise plain Miconazole application.
4. Oral Anti Fungal drugs like Fluconazole should also be used.

Hi,
Forgot to mention that I am diabetic. Will the same medicine work? Regarding the oral medicine, for what duration should I take and what should the frequency be within a day

If you are a Diabetic, then chance of fungal infection is very high.
Yes the same medications will work. But you need to get your blood sugars under proper control.
As far as oral medication is considered you have to see your doctor to get a prescription for that. I usually advise it as Fluconazole 200 mg once a week for two weeks, then review the condition and advise accordingly.
