Question: Hi Doctor,

I am 45 years old. I have recently observed dark colored painless and non itching blisters (1-4 mm) on my scrotum and base of penis. No other medical problem so far. Do you suggest I should carry out any test. I am sexually not very active. my last activity was a protected intercourse and oral sex about 6 weeks back.

Brief Answer:
Excision biopsy.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
To recapitulate: Male/45 - dark colored, painless and non itching blisters on scrotum and penis - seen in pictures - not very active sexually - has protected sex - no other medical problems - wants to know whether to carry on any tests...

My thoughts and advise:
As per the history and the picture you have provided, it would be better to get the lesions removed and sent for histopathology to rule out any melanoma and so on.

Since this area of the body is always hidden/covered, to follow up such lesions is difficult.
By removing two things are achieved well:
- You get rid of the disease and
- You get a confirmed diagnosis.

I hope this answer helps you in decision taking, please feel free to ask for further relevant queries if you feel that there is a gap of communication.
