Question : Hi, my husband is diabetic and on dialysis. He recently was hospitalized for UTI and lung issues. A week or so ago he fell and hit his foot. now he has a black are on the tip of his toe. His home health care nurse made him an appt. for Tuesday with a foot dr. to come to the house. Is that too long to wait. It sounded ok but now I can't sleep. He has a partial amputation on the other foot which was done years ago as a result of an accident. He has no feeling in his feet but has good circulation. Is there anything I can do in the meantime. He is on a blood thinner since being in the hospital. Thank you, XXXXXXX XXXX

Detailed Answer:
Hello Ms XXXX,
I have gone carefully through your query and understand your concern regarding to your husband's situation.
A diabetic patient who has done an amputation in one leg and is in dialysis has a high risk for a further amputation of the other leg. But if the amputation was due to an accident and he has checked the blood circulation lately and has not been alternated, i think you can wait until Tuesday.
Anyway, for a more professional response, i would recommend to attach a picture of the finger.
Will be a pleasure to help you further.
Kind regards,
Dr.Mirjeta
