Question : I have had fibroids for the last few years. I have had heavy bleeding up until this month. I have had only spotting. Last week when I went in for my yearly exam, the Nurse Practitioner said my fibroids had gotten bigger because my uterus was larger. I did not have an ultrasound this time. If that is the case why would I have only spotted this month? Should I be concerned?

I am so sorry to hear about these fibroids. Fibroid can cause excess menstruation as well as decreased bleeding. What happens depends on many other factors. My advise is that you get an ultrasound to evaluate the uterus. Ideally, you may need surgery to get this problem fully addressed as it has shown to be of continued worries to you.
