Question: Hi Doc, Got your info from internet. I am looking for online consultation for my mom, she lives in XXXXXXX I am eldest in the family and live in south XXXXXXX and so much worried about my mom's behaviour. My father had gone through heart bypass surgery 3 weeks ago and I really want to keep him away from all the tensions. I am sure I can get assistance from you. Once my mom is treated and see her improving I myself want to come over and thank you for the help. I desperately need help for her. She has this problem of suspecting people that they are taking her things away from home. When we know nothing is going our of the house but she thinks that her things go missing even when the house is locked. We are really so tired of explaining her but we know it's not something she is doing deliberately. I can share complete history with you if are willing to assist. I can even bring her to your clinic in December when I am in XXXXXXX but I want her to start her treatment. Who knows she gets better by then.

Brief Answer:
Hi

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for your query.
I appreciate your efforts for medical consultation in so much distress.

Important aspects of your query are:
•     59 year old female
•     Live in XXXXXXX with husband
•     Complaints of: Suspicion that others are stealing her things from the house.

From the history it appear that your mother is having Delusional symptoms. Delusions are false, firm and unshakable belief, which do not resolve by counseling. Delusion occurs in psychosis. In psychosis patient does not have insight, so they do not considered themselves ill. Due to that counseling do not help, even it make patient more anxious and irritable sometimes.

In treatment of psychosis medicines like antipsychotics are used, which can be given to patient after assessment and prescription from nearby psychiatrist. Many time patient refuses to take medicine, in such cases medicines can be given in food.

I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you. In case of any doubt, I will be available for follow ups.

Wish you good health.
Regards,
