Brief Answer: Epitril is not an anti depressant Detailed Answer: Hello, Thanks for choosing health care magic for posting your query. I have gone through your question in detail and I can understand what you are going through. Epitril is not an anti depressant. Its a benzodiazepine and it only symptomatically treats the anxiety without treating the core cause and the worst part is that it causes dependence. And its the dependence that you are experiencing at present. When you skip a dose of epitril it will cause withdrawal. I understand that you have tried to gradually tapper off epitril and the fact that you are still having withdrawal symptoms suggest that the tapper has to be still further gradual. What I would like to suggest is that you may start propranolol 40mg per day in the morning to take care of the anxiety and then take half of the tablet of 0.25mg epitril every day and then make it alternate day. You may also continue doing yoga as it is effective as well. Hope I am able to answer your concerns. If you have any further query, I would be glad to help you. If not, you may close the discussion and if possible you may rate the answer for me, so that I get a good feedback. Brief Answer: It can be taken for 2 weeks Detailed Answer: Hello Propranolol is a good drug and is very safe. The only major contraindication is asthma in which it should not be given. Other wise it is safe and dependence free and can be taken for 2-3 months to cover up the withdrawal effects of epitril. Regards Dr. Srikanth Reddy MD
