Suggest Treatment For Depression

Question: I am 44 years old, have had "extreme PMS" on and off for a couple of years, basically moody and weepy and very agitated - but only with my husband, and only about sex. My libido has been very low, I have not initiated sex for a few years, and then I am angry with him for not initiating more! Crazy. I went to an OB Gyn, who put me on 20 mg of medroxyprogestin, and testosterone cream. The problem is that I think the progesterone makes me think about death and my own mortality A LOT, and the testosterone makes my face break out and so far has not had any effect that I notice. Help?By the way- the "death thoughts" as I call them are exactly what happened when I had post partum depression after my second child. I did not get treated for that and it eventually went away after a few months

Brief Answer:
psychiatrist consultation and diet modification

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX thanks for trusting health care magic.
After reading your complaints and previous history of post partum depression, I believe you have a baseline tendency of going to depressed state.

I can assure you one thing that it is completely and easily treatable but hallmark is relapse of disease time and again especially when there is any stress.

In my opinion visit a psychiatrist for a proper counselling session (which will help a lot) and prescription of a mild antidepressant in initial months only is necessary.

In the meanwhile try simple home remedies like you should drink a lot of water and avoid hot and humid climates. Lessen your intake of caffeine and eat lots of salads and fruits. Include nuts especially walnuts in your daily diet and increase intake of soy proteins.

Wish you the best of health and take care.
