Question : I am a 60 yo male Asian XXXXXXX physician practicing in San XXXXXXX California. I have chronic depression and on Effexor. I lost my job almost 2 months ago. Would you be able to recommend a mental health care provider?I need to see a specific mental health care specialist (i.e. a specific name, address and contact ##/email address)with experience in my problems, namely Dysthymic Depressive Disorder with acute Depressive episode with GAD (Generalized Anxiety Disorder). Is there anyone whom you will highly recommend?

Would my past history of suicidal ideation in 1998 (never recurred again though) have any bearing on whom I need to see? Will this jeopardize my license renewal (linense expires in XXXXXXX 2015)?

I have gone through your question in detail and I can understand what you are going through.
With such high doses of medicines, you are still having depressive symptoms and this is really bad. You need a combination of medicines with psychotherapy.
With an immense experience in the field of psychiatry as well as psychotherapy, I guess she should be the best person for you. Having a psychiatric illness of depression doesnt deter ones renewal. Moreover if you have had a suicidal ideas before then it makes it all the more necessary for systematic treatment for depression.
