Question: I pulled or strained my diaphragm muscle from cardio. And it's excruciating. I'm having spasms and just able to take sips of air. When can I work out again?

Brief Answer:
You will be able to work out again after the spasm is better.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome,

I am sorry you got this strain. Without seeing you in person, it is hard to know exactly when this will resolve. Part of the pain is likely due to spasm, which should resolve in the next few days. But likely you will need to sit out for at least 2 weeks.

Since the diaphragm is a large muscle, and involved in breathing, your pain and difficulty breathing are understandable. But if it excruciating and the muscle relaxer is not helping adequately, I'd recommend returning to an urgent care clinic or ER as you may need stronger treatment than you were given.
