Question : Hi my 9 mo old granddaughter has been in the hospital since the 24th with a stomach virus. I seem to have come down with the same thing, which isn't surprising since she threw up on me several times. I came home from the hospital last night because I wasn't feeling well. I am trying to decide if I should go to the ER. I have had several bouts of bloody diarrhea and now when I have stomach cramps I am also having chest pain that leaves me gasping for breathe. I am no longer having the diarrhea, and I haven't thrown up for six hours but the cramps and the headache persist. I am 50 years old, otherwise healthy although I am overweight.
Brief Answer:
Stomach Virus
Detailed Answer:
Hello. I just read through your question.
In most cases, we can recover from stomach viruses at home.
However, in your case the chest pain and shortness of breath could be alarming. For that reason, I recommend being seen sooner rather than later. An emergency room would be a great place to have yourself evaluated.
