Question : I have had intestinal pains for two week and runny diareah for the same length of time.

Detailed Answer:
Dear patient, when someone with your symptoms comes to my office i would usually do the following:
1. order stoolsamples to rule out a bacterial infection
2.do blood work for inflammation
3. if not conclusive, rule out intolerances by testing for lactose, fructose, sorbitol.

Depending on the findings, specific therapy such as antibiotic treatment or antiinflammatory treatment may follow.
