Question : Hi. my husband and I are trying to concieve and this is our first month trying. I have been using an ovulation kit and testing everyday since my period stopped and i got an LH surge on day 14. which means i was going to be ovulating 12-48 hours after. I have now been having positive result for 3 days and I am on cycle day 16. what does that mean that I have been getting them for 3 days. i thought it was just one day? i have also been getting breast tenderness yesterday and today so is that a sign that ovulation has occurred? i also have not been getting egg white mucus and i don't normally do. does that mean i am infertile? can we stop having sex now since my chart tells me i ovulated yesterday. thanks.

Thanks for your query.

I have read you query and I understand your concerns.

Following is my reply:

1) You might be having ovulation of more than one follicle which is the reason for persisting ovulation test positive.

2) Ovulation kit detects a hormone called LH. It takes time for the ovulation test to become negative slowly as LH remains for more time in blood for some women.

3) I suggest you have intercourse for another 3 days as there is still time for egg to travel down through fallopian tubes and get fertilized.

4) White mucous only means you are ovulating which is good sign. It doès not mean you are infertile. You have ovulated.
