Brief Answer: you can take laxatives or bananas Detailed Answer: Hi, Thanks for writing to HCM. This is Dr. Ashish Verma, a general surgeon, answering to your query. You can eat bananas...they increase the bulk of the waste and help in its expulsion... But in your case, the bulk of waste is already there and has become hard by staying there for 3-4 days...this is because the body absorsbs water from it....so the more longer it will stay the harder it will get... If bananas do not work...then you have to take laxatives.... they are easily available over the counter....you can take it twice daily initially and reduce or stop when the goal is achieved... If that also did not does its job then you need to take enema...either by yourself or by a nurse... Hope, that i have answered to all your queries. If you have further queries, i will be glad to answer them. Regards Dr. Ashish Verma

I took the laxitive, senna s, when I got your answer. I hope this works. Had no bananas. Will the laxitives soften what is hard at the end and causing the problem? I feel like I need to go to the bathroom but it gets there at the jumping off place and just wont jump. ha ha . and hurts too bad to push hard.
