Brief Answer:
Foot pain

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for contacting HCM with your health care concerns

You are concerned about foot pain. Since you have had prior injury to you foot from the turf toe you are at risk of developing long term osteoarthritis of the foot. This is the probable cause of your recent increased pain. The injury may also make you at risk for gout. If your foot is swelling with redness of the great toe then you may have gout. For gout I recommend you see your medical provider to help with proper medication to reduce the swelling and redness. This may include a steroid along with anti-inflammatories. Reduce diet in purines which means less seafood like shrimp and less nuts like peanuts.

The more likely cause is osteoarthritis from the turf toe injury. The treatment will require treatment with ongoing anti-inflammatory like ibuprofen or aleve. When wearing a shoe makes sure it is good fitting shoe with good support. Tennis shoes and sandals will not give strong enough support.

Additional medication that can help is applying aspercream or capsaicin cream to the foot which may reduce pain

In summary
1. Osteoarthritis needing anti-inflammatory
2. Gout needing prednisone and anti-inflammatory
3. Aspercream or capsaicin cream to aid pain control

I hope this answers your question. Please contact HCM again with your health care concerns and questions or if you need additional information
