Question : My son has discoloration on both feet and ankles. Alot of red dots, not raised, under the skin. We are just wanting to see what could be causing this.

I have gone through your query and clinical picture uploaded by you.
It looks like Schamberg's disease. Also known as progressive pigmented purpuric dermatitis.
It is caused by leaky blood vessels near the surface of the skin, which allow red blood cells to slip through into the skin. The red blood cells in the skin release their iron which causes a rust color.
Long standing pro-vacates the occurrence.
Mild steroid controls the itching and disappearance of lesion.
