Question : this past Sunday morning I awoke feeling like someone took a rubber band around my abdoman. The pain was bad. Then I started vomiting nothing was coming up. I had at least 30 episodes of severe cramping and then dry vomiting for at least an hour. That suddenly stopped and then I stared having lower ab cramping and made repeated at least 10 trips to the bath room sometimes my stool was very hard other times it was liquid. After about 1 1/2 hours all pain and cramping went away. This is or the first time I've had this but it is by far the worse. I have been told I have IBS in the past. I have a habit of having bowel movements every 5-7 days so my doctor gave me to use Linnzess to use as needed and I took it this last time and it didn"t work.

Brief Answer:
Thorough investigations required

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to Healthcare-Magic
Greetings of the day

Dear Ms

Irritable bowel syndrome or IBS is diagnosis of exclusion. Only after thorough clinical examination and detailed investigations based on symptoms, if no cause is made out then its labelled as IBS.

I would suggest you to discuss this isse with your physician, requesting him for detailed investigation

In the meantime i would suggest you the following

Chronic constipation in an adult is likely to be due to following
1. Low fibre diet
2. Decreased intake of water
3. Presence of lesion of anus and rectum

Before embarking on blind empirical treatment its advisable to undergo thorough evaluation by General Surgeon/Gastroenterlogist

I would suggest you the following

1. Plenty of oral fluids: 2-3 liter of water a day
2. High fibre diet: 2 servings of vegetable salad and fruits everyday
3. Oral Laxatives

Do get back to me if you need any further assistance, will be glad to assist you.
Do keep me updated about progress

Wishing you and your family a very happy and healthy life

Take Care
