Brief Answer:
Most common cause is problem with gall bladder.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome,

You are describing right upper quadrant pain with radiation. The most common cause of this is a problem with the gall bladder, but there can be other causes too, and there are a wide range of causes including problems with the liver, bowel, etc.

You should definitely go to the doctor to be evaluated. If it is severe pain, then go to the ER. Also go to the ER if you are having other symptoms with this such as a fever, or light headedness.

But otherwise you should see your primary doctor, or go to an urgent care clinic if you can't get in to see your doctor soon.

The doctor may want to get imaging studies, such as an abdominal ultrasound, or may order a CT or MRI, depending on your exam.

I hope this information helps. Please let me know if I can provide further information of clarification.
