Suggest Treatment For Discomfort In Testicular Region

default
Posted on Mon, 1 Dec 2014
Question: I felt a mild discomfort in my mild testicular region. I got diagnosed with thickened right epididymis or epididymytis. Have been given 5 days course of Augmentin and 5 days of Bactrim DS along with 2 weeks of Enzoheal. Discomfort went off when the meds where on but has resurfaced once meds stopped. I have had no sexual contact for at least a year prior to the symptom appearing. Have been asked to stop two wheeler driving and wear scrotal support.

Brief Answer:
treatment elaborated

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking in HCM.
I can understand your problem.
I have seen your report of ultrasound.

After stopping medicines your problem reappeared.
You are having epididymitis.

It is better to go for urine culture first to find which bacteria causing epididymitis.

antibiotics should be taken for at least 21 days.

Reappearing of infection is showing that infection is not fully cured and antibiotics as well as duration of treatment is not appropriate..

Tablet doxycycline, norfloxacin/ ofloxacin are better antibiotics. I usually suggest my patients tab norflox bd for 21 days.

tab zerodol sp is good for reducing swelling. Please get this prescribed from your doctor as well.

plus

1. ice packs
2.reduction in physical activities
3.analgesics
4. drugs to reduce inflammation like serratopeptidase with diclofenac
5. scrotal support
do not worry after taking complete course of antibiotic yo0u will fine.
it is easily curable.
Hope my answer helped you.

Take care.

Hello Doctor, Thanks for your reply . It is comforting. I had got urine c/s and FBS done. Reports collected this morning. Attaching them along with 2 months old blood reports. As far as I can understand culture report doesn't give anything. I forgot to mention I was also prescribed Sompraz D20 which I think falls under the analgesic category. I will take the full course of the above antibiotic and zerodol. Anything you want to add based on the reports I have now attached.

Brief Answer:
Epididymitis.

Detailed Answer:
I went thoroughly on all the reports.

You are not having bacterial infection. you are having idiopathic epididymitis.

Now do three things
1. Apply ice on the affected area.
2. take tab zerodol SP...previously you were taking plain zerodol.
3. take tab betamethasone 0.5 mg BD for a week.

Discuss regarding these with your treating doctor.

You will fine in a week. So do not worry.

Take care

Hello Doctor, Thanks. I have not taken Zerodol previously but I am ok to take Zerodol SP as you are suggesting. I will take Zerodol SP and Betamethasone and get back to you after a week with how I feel. One more clarification please. Is there a need to refrain from sexual activity in this period or a danger of my partner contracting anything from me? Thanks much for your help!

Hello Doctor, I did palpate the epididymis to check for beaded appearance I think there is but I feel that's how it has been normally. Since I can't be sure I have attached picture. What is the recommended dosage for Zerodol SP and Betnelan Tablets ? Is it taken after food or before food ? How many times in a day ? Since this is the last follow up on the matter I will get back only if the problem is not solved. Thanks much for your help. Regards, Mudit.
