Question : Yes please, I don't really know which way too go or who to see. I've had Lyme disease x3 yrs in a row and the last time was last summer. I didn't get diagnoised until the symptoms were advanced, malaise, generalized pain but mostly joint being lower body, brain fog and decrease in urinary control. I had the usual course of abx but still had discomfort in my knees, and ankles, fatigue and brain fog leading to depression. I researched alternative treatment for the other bacteria that the abx don't cover and have been a month on the Dr XXXXXXX Cowden protocol which has helped depression, some of the foggiest, bladder control and generalized pain but my knees and especially my ankles are always stiff, painful limiting ROM and time that I can stand on them. Who would I see about that?

Brief Answer:
An orthopedic surgeon, rheumatologist is necessary

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for your query.
I'm Dr. Shuba Hariprasad and will be answering your query today.

Post treatment Lyme's disease syndrome is when the symptoms linger for more that 6 months.
You seem to have lingering arthritis.
I would like to check for other additive causes for the pain like auto immune arthritis or osteoarthritis.

I recommend :
-an Internist consult to make sure nothing else is going on. An orthopedic/rheumatologist consult for your joint pains.
-x-rays or MRI (depending on clinical indication) of the affected joints.
-blood tests (complete blood count, Thyroid stimulating hormone, calcium and phosphorus levels, rheumatoid factor, anti-dsDna, liver and kidney function tests)
Depending on these we can detect any ongoing problems that is causing your joint pains.

To answer your query, you need to see an orthopedic surgeon and a rheumatologist if indicated.

Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.
Wish you good health.
Regards,
Dr Shuba Hariprasad
