Suggest Treatment For Dizziness, Headaches And Mild Indigestion

Posted on Tue, 27 Jan 2015
Question: Hi. Thank you. For the past 26 hours, I've had these symptoms: I'm dizzy, have a headache, and mild indigestion. No fever, no vomiting, no body aches. When I move my eyes quickly, I hear a fast "whoosh, whoosh" in my ears. Because of the holidays & travel, my diet, sleep & intake of prescriptions & supplements are "off." They include spironolactone, low-dose estrogen, 137 mg Effexor, fish oil, biotin, calcium, colace & miralax (for g.i. Issues from extreme, internal abdominal scarring) and a multivitamin. Female, 51, 140 lbs, 5'8", bp 102/60, hrt rate 68, body fat 18%. Would you know what might be causing my illness? Thoughts for relief? Thank you & Happy New Year. P.S. I have never felt like this before.

Brief Answer:
more information will help

Detailed Answer:
hello ma'am,
As I can understand your compliants are
1) sounds in ear while moving your eyes.
2) headache
3) GI problem for which you are taking medication

I would need to know
1) since how many days have you started the ear sound problem?
do you have it only when you move your eyes? is it present while at rest?
how severe is your headache, rate it in a scale of 1 to 10?
What is the condition for which you have been prescribed these meds? and how long have you been taking it?
are you also having hearing difficulties?
Is the noise in ear present while jaw movement?

Answer to these question will help me to come to certain specific diagnosis, without knowing these it is not proper to make any suggestions.

thank you, waiting for your response.
Happy new year to you too.

Regards,

Sound present only when I move my eyes; not when at rest. No hearing difficulties. GI meds prescribed (2006) to prevent intestinal pain due to severe abdominal scarring. No pain with jaw movement. Had headache for 26 hours when I submitted question; pain level 8 to 9 and only present on left side of head.

HOWEVER...our oldest daughter (20) suggested that I might have a migraine. I took two Excedrin Migraine pain relievers and 20 minutes later, I felt human again! YAY! I guess I was experiencing my first migraine. That's probably why my stomach hurt. Also, when my headache went away, so did the whooshing sound in my ears.

Thank you!

Brief Answer:
I agree with your daughter.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for the reply.

Good to know that your complaints have improved.
Your daughter is correct, I completely agree with her.
Your complaints are consistent with the migraine headache, sounds in ear(Tinnitus) in migraine is not uncommon.

However, your GI problem appears to be an independent condition and not related to migraine, for which I suggest you continue your treatment as prescribed by your doctor.

You should now look to prevent the migraine headache, for which I have following suggestions
1) lookout for triggering factors and avoid them.
2) avoid excess of stimulants and chocolate consumption.
3) avoid straining eyes. Stay away from loud noises.
4) maintain regular routine of sleep and eating habits.

Thank you

Regards,
