Question : Dizziness, vertigo, occasional waves of nausea. Sore throat, swollen glands, mild fever that comes and goes. Seems to happen ever year or two; takes 3-4 weeks to resolve. Had mono many years ago and wonder of it can re-occur?
Brief Answer:
although rare, Mononucleosus due to Epstein Barr virus can recur
Detailed Answer:
Hi welcome to HealthcareMagic,
Although rare, Mononucleosus due to Epstein Barr virus can recur after a few months or even years.
The symptoms are more due to super added streptococcal infection (a bacterial infection) and will need antibiotics to resolve.
If fatigue persists, in some cases we may have to give corticosteroids.
To prevent recurrence, immunity should be boosted with anti oxidants, a diet rich in fruits and vegetables and plenty of exercise.
