Question : I have been having dry cough for 5 days now. I went to see a doctor and she prescribed Azithral for 3 days. one time a day. After using this, though the pain subsided, I still have dry cough. What do you recommend?

Brief Answer:
Try gargles

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for your query.

It looks like you have pharyngitis. Most often it is self limiting and resolves by itself without taking any anitbiotic.

I would suggest the following-

- Gargle your throat three times daily with salt water
- Syp Ascoril-D 2 - 3 times a day will help with the cough. It should be taken only when cough is present.
- I would prescribe Tab Amoxicillin with clavulanic acid three times daily, rather than azithral. But your condition doesn't really need any antibiotic.

Hope it helps.
