Question: My son Saketh ( 9 months) is suffering from dry cough. Previously when we visited a pediatrician he advised to keep "Kosarest - PD' handy for cough.

Can we use this for his cure?

Brief Answer:
You can use Kofaret-PD

Detailed Answer:
Hi.. XXXXXXX Thanks for consulting on health care magic.

You can use Kofarest -PD, but rather than age it is the weight of the kid which is more important in deciding the dose.
If you can get back to me with Saketh's recent weight, I would be glad to get back to you with the appropriate dosing for that particular weight. I am telling this because - if excess dose is used, the Terbutaline component in that medicine will cause heart rate variation.

I have a few questions for you -

1. Is there any fever?
2. Is he having fast breathing?
3. Did he have wheezing at any point of time in the past?
4. Is there any family history of wheezing?

Hope my answer was helpful for you. I am happy to help any time. Further clarifications and consultations on Health care magic are welcome. Wish your kid good health.

Brief Answer:
Dosage suggetion

Detailed Answer:
Hi.. XXXXXXX

I told not to use in excess dosage. You need not worry if used in right dosage for right period of time. In fact any medicine in high dosage will cause complications. In fact oxygen which is the life giver in excess concentration for preterm babies will make eye sight abnormal....so please do not worry. I will suggest you appropriately.

If I were you kid's paediatrician, I would prescribe him 1ml thrice a day for him...for 3 days. The dosage is 0.05mg/kg/dose of Terbutaline every 8th hourly for 3 days. Kofarest-PD contains 2.5mg/5ml of syrup. If he doesn't settle in 3 days, please take him to the paediatrician.

I wish your kid a speedy recovery. If you need any future medical consultation and suggestions, I will be glad to help. You can approach me at the following link. Please find the link below.

Brief Answer:
Suggestion on Kofaset PED

Detailed Answer:
Hi....

Kofarest-PD is an approved drug formulation which can be used. But Kofaset PED is not too popular and I am not aware of the composition in it. I suggest you message me the formulations in the drug which you have got with you right now. It will be written on the label under the heading of composition. Then I will be able to guide you about the dosage.

If this is not an option, you can give Syrup Cetrizine at 0.25mg/kg/dose every 12 hourly for 3 days. Cetrizine syrup usually contains 5mg/5ml strength. So you can use 2ml twice a day for 2 days.
For nasal block, plain saline nasal drops will do, every 4-6th hourly to relive nasal congestion.
Kindly get back to me with the details or you can start with Cetrizine syrup and saline nasal drops.
