Suggest Treatment For Dry Cough

Question: Hi,

I have dry cough for over 1.5 months now. With my physician's consultation, I have taken 3timesx6days of axithromycin 625mg, and 3 bottles of Ascoril-D scrup, and 3timesx6days Dolo 625mg tablets. Along with these medications, I have had 25-30 Strepsils logenzes but to no avail. The cough is still there. I have tried drinking XXXXXXX warm water regularly, but hasn't helped. Off late I have observed a pattern, I cough more after meal, or if I am hungry. And while driving for 2 hours with the AC on, I feel mucous congestion engulfing my throat, but eventually it clears up on disembarking from the car. My physician did mention this kind of dry cough takes 2 weeks to 2 months to heal. Wanted a second opinion on the claim. Is there anything to be worried of or any home remedies I can try out?

Your doctor is right in saying that Dry cough take a few weeks to clear up.
I can suggest you the following:
- Mucolite tablet or syrup. The dose is 60 - 120 mg/day in 2 - 3 divided doses. It will help clear the mucous stuck in the throat
- Some ayurvedic preparations can help like sualin tablets, cough syrup from XXXXXXX XXXXXXX ayurveda.
- Drink pure water
