Brief Answer:
This indicates dry eye.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to Health care magic.

I am Dr. DADAPEER K, an ophthalmologist and I answer health problems related to eye.

I reviewed your history. It seems from the history that you are having dry eyes and you are on treatment with restasis for dry eyes.
The symptoms of feeling of stickiness of eyes and pain indicate severe dry eye.

Restasis contains cyclosporine and it is effective in treatment of dry eyes but it needs atleast 1-3 months of time before it starts acting.
Hence along with restasis artificial tears eye drops needs to be used for symptomatic relief.
Hence I advice you to start artificial eye drops after consultation with your treating doctor.

Please review back to me with more details like duration of dry eyes, medications other than restasis you are using currently, other symptoms like itching of the eye, discharge from the eyes so that I can advice you more accurately.

Hope the information is helpful to you.

Thank you
With regards

Hi Dr. DADAPEER K,,

I have been using Restasis for the last 2 years, along with artificial tears almost every hour. Also my eyes have become very sensitive to light, cant even stand phone screen or computer screen. Very difficult to keep my eyes open. Even after putting artificial tears or restasis have trouble opening eyes.. they irritate when I try to open and and when I blink they tend to shut and stick. Is getting worst every day, and have trouble walking in my own room., and stopped driving completely.. My ophthomologist also says dry eyes, but the treatment is not helping me. I am looking for second opinion and alternate treatment if any. Please help.

Thanks,
XXXX

Brief Answer:
I would like to use punctal plugs.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to Health care magic
Thank you for the follow up question.

Thank you for the details. It seems from the history that you are having severe dry eyes which is probably not responding to the medical line of treatment. The symptoms of sensitivity to light indicate corneal punctate erosions secondary to dry eyes. You need to continue the treatment with the restasis and artificial tears and along with this additional treatment depending on the cause for dry eye is required.

Since you are 72 years old I would like to rule out Sjogren's syndrome as a cause for dry eye by investigations like Erythrocyte sedimentation rate. I would like to rule out other causes for dry eye like meibomian gland dysfunction, eye lid diseases....

The treatment aspect I would like to try with punctal plugs along with the medical line of treatment. Do discuss with your doctor regarding all this and get back to me with the feed back, so that I can advice you further on your treatment.

Hope the information is helpful to you.

Thank you
