Brief Answer: Possible GERD/gastric problems... Detailed Answer: Hi, I have gone through your query and understood your concerns. The use of drugs of angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (ACE-i) group is associated with dry cough. That's why your doctor has changed to Losartan, which is included in the group of angiotensin receptors blockers (ARB). If such change in therapy has been done recently, then, I suggest to have patience until the cough will be improved. It is true that allergies might cause dry cough; I suggest to discuss with your doctor to run allergy testing to rule them out. Next, GERD (acid reflux) or gastric problems are also associated with dry cough, especially after eating and associated with burning sensation. I suggest to discuss this with your doctor in order to do upper endoscopy to look for upper GI problems. Meanwhile, I advise to: - eat often and small portions, and slowly - avoid laying down immediately after eating - take 2 more pillows when sleeping - discuss with your doctor to prescribe anti-hystamine drug together with omeprazole/ranitidine treatment.
