Question: Hi doctors, I have a very dry skin. I've been using dove soap, but I am not satisfied with it as it leaves a dull look and makes the T line in my face little oily during summer days and also feel that it darkens my skin tone. Kindly suggest a suitable soap. I also have hair-fall problem, due to dry skin I find shampoo also dries my scalp, can you advice me with a mild shampoo; thank you.

Brief Answer:
You have a combination skin and possibly flaky or dandruff prone scalp.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing to us.
You seem to have combination skin where your T zone is oily while rest of the area is dry. In such cases you may use mild cleansers like cetaphil/moiz/episoft etc to wash face. If the T zone appears still shiny, use an alcohol free toner for that area.
Your scalp could be dry or flaky due to dandruff which could be the cause for hair fall. You may use ketoconazole based shampoo three days in a week( nizoral/scalpe/arcolane). Apply the shampoo keep it for fifteen minutes then wash off. Also use a steroid antifungal lotion like candid b lotion twice in a day. Usually with two to three weeks therapy dandruff is gone and hair fall should reduce too. Once your scalp is clean, use this shampoo two days in a week while stop the steroid lotion.
However if hair fall remains same, consult a dermatologist to rule out androgenetic alopecia and telogen effluvium.
Hope this helped.
