Suggest Treatment For Dryness And Dark Spots On Face

default
Posted on Fri, 16 Jan 2015
Question: My face is dry and scalpy and it feels very tight. I used something for dark spots but it irritated it I guess and it feels like I have a chemical peel. Some areas have peeled with Lighter skin under but how do I take care of it so it does not irritate and peel again? Can I leave it dry? I usually have this problem wuen using a new product and it anything I do causes my skin to dry up and peel again.

Any advice. I have pure vitamin e oil.

Brief Answer:
I would like to know the ingredient of this product..

Detailed Answer:
Hello, Thank you for writing to us at healthcaremagic

This product that you used on face is the likely reason for feeling of tightness and peeling of skin.
Can you let me know the ingredients of this product? I remember you consulted me for acne and you were using salicylic acid 10%. Is it the same product to which you have developed reaction?
I suggest you to use a mild OTC topical steroid e.g cortisone cream, to the irritated and peeling areas. That should help it resolve faster.
I advice against using oil because using oil on face can flare acne.

It is the 10 percent but also something I Was given for a dark spot by a pharmacy called neoprosone. I'm sick of dark spots. I've done chemical peel before which lightened them. Do you think you can advise me on the correct percent to do and guide me? I've done it before and it helped a lot. My face is much better than it was. The only thing is that I picked at an area and that is the area with the dark spot. It was a strong 50 percent tca and I did it and it didn't heel in time so I picked at it. I really don't want to go to a dermatologist. I prefer to do the peel under guidance

Brief Answer:
You may do a salicylic peel only once every 2 weeks..

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

TCA 50% is too strong for face. It will cause irritation and also can causes post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH)/dark spots. I think that is what has happened with you. You should never use it without a doctor's guidance.

The cream which was given by local pharmacy contains a topical steroid. You may use it over the dark spots and over the areas which got irritated from peel. This should help the dark spot and also the irritation. However, use it only for a week or two and don't use it all over the face.

You may do a salicylic acid peel once every 2 weeks for your acne.

Regards
