Brief Answer: Skin enhancement Detailed Answer: Hello and Welcome to healthcaremagic I am Dr. Kakkar. I have gone through your concern and I have understood it. During pregnancy the increased volume of blood causes the cheeks to take on an attractive blush. On top of this redness, the increased secretions of the oil glands give the skin a waxy sheen. Once pregnancy gets over, there is a relative dullness and dry skin. During and Post-pregnancy, some females may develop brownish patches on face under the influence of hormones. These dark patches/pigmentation may persist after the pregnancy is over. If I was your treating doctor I would have asked you to use a broad spectrum sunscreen, that which offers both UVA and UVB protection, throughout the day. You may need to reapply it every 3 hourly. Along with the sunscreen, a skin lightening cream containing one or more of the skin lightening agents e.g Glycolic acid, kojic acid OR Hydroquinone etc can be used once or twice daily. Glycolic acid is an exfoliant, therefore in addition to being a skin lightening agent, glycolic acid also works well for mild acne. It is also an antiageing molecule and delays the onset of fine lines and wrinkles by stimulating the synthesis of extracellular matrix in dermis. It is available in 2 strengths in cream formulation: 6% and 12% (Glyco-6 and Glyco-A cream respectively) You could also go in for 6-8 Glycolic acid peeling sessions from a dermatologist. The peel solution utilizes higher concentration of glycolic acid(20%, 35%, 50% and 70% strengths) as compared to that available in a cream The peel works to even out uneven skin tone, improves complexion, tightens pores, decreases acne and oilyness and if taken regularly it acts as an antiageing modality by delaying the onset of fine lines and wrinkles. A retinol based cream (0.04% strength) is also available to enhance facial skin. It slows down ageing and prevents the development of wide pores and delays as well as reverses fine lines and wrinkles. Face washes only clean the surface of the skin and are usually ineffective in removing tanning/pigmentation/dullness. You could use a gentle cleansing lotion (PH balanced) for face wash twice daily e.g cetphil cleansing lotion. I hope this answers your query. If you have any further questions/clarifications, I am here to help you out. regards
