Suggest Treatment For Dull Pain In The Shoulders

default
Posted on Wed, 15 Feb 2017
Question: I have been experiencing a dull pain in my shoulder and I'm wondering how to tell if it's arthritis (which my mom had) or if it's from coughing with my allergies. I also have stiffness in my neck and feels like i have a constant strain on my neck. This has been going on for quite some time. Some days I have a pain on the outside of my arm (up high), but not very often. It's usually in my shoulder. At times when i move my shoulder, it hurts. I also have a tooth on that side of my upper mouth that has had a root canal done on it and has an artificial tooth on a metal stem. Could that be related to the neck stiffness and pain. It has recently come loose and i had it recemented in.

Brief Answer:
It doesnt seem to be arthritis.

Detailed Answer:
Dear Madam,

Thank you for posting your query on HCM.

Well looking into your query I will like to tell you that your symptoms look more like a frozen shoulder or may be just shoulder capsulitis . Generally arthritis in women doesn't begin with shoulder . It also doesn't seem to be related to any of the conditions that you have mentioned. An ultrasound of the shoulder joint can reveal the exact issue and will be the investigation of choice .

Take care.

Thank you. One thing I did not mention earlier and I apologize, is that my hand seem to be more sensitive to cold weather. Does that still sound like shoulder capsulitis? And the stiff neck and tension in my neck as well?

Brief Answer:
Follows.

Detailed Answer:
Dear Madam,

It can be cervical spondylitis which can have mild nerve involvement also .Thats another thing which comes to mind . Both stiff neck and tense muscles along with cold sensitivity can be associated with it . Cold sensitivity will not be there with shoulder capsulitis .
