Question : I have a cyst on 3.0 cm on rt superior kidney and a 1.2 cm on rt kidney inferior . Lower rt quandrant pain for 2 months , Most of time pain is tolerable (dull ache ) sometimes it wakes me up during the night with burning, stabbing pain . What is the treatment , do these cysts need to be removed , biopsied ? Also have multiple cysts (tiny on Liver ) are they related to kidney ?

                                    Brief Answer:
This is probably polycystic kidney disease.
Detailed Answer:
HI and thank you so much for this query.
I am so sorry to hear about these cyst that you have reported. I have reviewed the information fully and this is suggestive of PKD(autosomal dominant). Removing these cysts is not the way to go. The best approach is to manage any condition or complication related to it such as hypertension, impaired kidney function, pain, etc. Surgery is often not helpful as they cysts have a tendency to recur. Talk to your nephrologist about this for a comprehensive treatment plan.
I hope this helps. I wish you well. Feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be. Above all, thanks for using our services.
