Suggest Treatment For Dysgeusia

Since then, just about everything we eat has an overpowering taste of bad sushi. Last night was New York Strip smothered in a parsely, garlic butter and sides of unflavored steamed fresh vegetables and mashed potatoes. Everything tasted just as bad. It can not be cross-contamination. This morning, scrambled eggs. Same result.
I've never heard of this before so I'm thinking there might be something environmental, such as gases seeping from the ground. We did just bring home a newborn less than two weeks ago but I can't see how that could affect both of us simultaneously.
I'd be grateful for any intelligent direction on this.
Fishy Aftertaste - nearly impossible to get rid of except to wait it out
Detailed Answer:
Hello - I can imagine your level of disgust right now. Did you happen to have wine with your Shepherds Pie? Intuition tells me it might have been contaminated wine. I didn't hear you say that either of you became ill, luckily, so it may just be that nasty "aftertaste syndrome" often caused by iron, bad wine and once it gets on your taste receptors no one has figured a way to rid yourself of it except with time. A great deal of money has been poured into finding a solution to this.
I can do some further research, but I wouldn't rule out something environmental similar to sewer gas, or the rotten egg smell from water when pipes/well/municipal water supply is contaminated.
If you can come up with any further information that might help me provide you direction on this, feel free to write back. It has been 3 days now, let us see if it improves or not.
Check back with me tomorrow with any new information you might have, let me know if it is the same, worse or better and if you have developed any gastrointestinal symptoms. Logically you would have mentioned if you take fish oil pills as if you do quit and buy the vegetarian omega-3 fatty acids. Maintain excellent oral hygiene brushing your tongue and gargling and follow-up with me first thing tomorrow US time.
I always enjoy a good puzzle. Let us see if we can solve yours. XXXXXXX Shattler, MS,RDN
