Question: I have a 11 year old daughter who has a very bad ear ache for the past two days and
this morning there is all puss coming out of the ear. I am going on holidays on Thursday
she is now saying that her throat is sore

Thanks for posting the query

Your daughter seems to be having upper respiratory tract infection along with middle ear infection. Ideally, she is not supposed to travel (particularly, the flight journey). If it's inevitable, you can try the suggestions mentioned below:

1. Use xylometazoline nasal spray or drops 3-4 times a day for maximum 5 days.
2. Try using OTC antibiotic ear drops in the discharging ear.
3. OTC pain relievers such as ibuprofen can be tried for pain.
4. Encourage your daughter to drink plenty of warm water.
5. Avoid chilled food and beverages & fizzy drinks.
6. Best of all would be, to consult a doctor.
