Question : I was seen by a doctor last Friday for double ear infection and a ruptured ear drum. Given augmentin 875mg bid, and Tylenol 3 Q4hrs prn for pain. I am still having drainage and pain, also have an odd/bitter taste in my mouth. Is all of this normal or do I need to return to the doctor? I am also feeling poorly. Thanks

After a week of treatment, your symptoms should be significantly improved.

It would be best to see your doctor for reassessment.

It is possible the particular bacteria causing your infection is resistant to the antibiotics chosen and a different antibiotic may be needed.

Since it is still draining, your doctor may consider a swab. This can be analysed at the lab, they would be able to determine the bacteria present.
In addition, analysis can determine which antibiotics are sensitive and which are resistant.
