Question : I am a 54 year old male. I have a very painful ear infection in my left ear. My Dr. has prescribed a z-pack, vicodin for pain and cortisporin drops. Today is the 4th day. No relief. I've also been using a heating pad. Please help.

Brief answer....take anti inflammatory drug and better to change the antibiotic

Thanks for the query.
I have read your query and understand your concern.
In my opinion,if your pain is still persisting on 4 th day after start of antibiotic,then it should be changed but off course,after consulting your doctor.
In my opinion....
Take ibuprofen 600 mg three times a day and Vicodin in night only,
And
Take AUGMENTIN 625 mg three times a day instead of Z pack ( for 5-7 days )
Continue the rest of treatment.
Do talk to your doctor in this regard and discuss about the medicines,I have suggested.
