Suggest Treatment For Eczema On Legs And Itching On Body

default
Posted on Tue, 11 Aug 2015
Question: Hello, I have eczema on my legs and just started noticing a rash-like "thing" between two of my fingers on my right hand. Nowhere else in my body is itching at this time since it's summer and my leg eczema usually is contained until the winter. I'm wondering if it's a sign of hand eczema or something more. I don't believe it's scabies but it's a red patch on my middle finger (it had little bumps before but I applied so much lotion that it's not just a red spot) and then I have scabs on my ring finger because of me scratching it raw. This happened a couple months ago and I didn't pay much attention to it. My fiance (who I live with) keeps reassuring me that it's nothing more than eczema (he is not itchy anywhere).

I have been under a lot of stress lately and this just started on Monday.

Brief Answer:
Hand eczema is most likely possibility

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Welcome to Healthcaremagic.com.
I have read your query.
I understand your concern.
I have seen the attached photographs also.
As per details, it seems that you have developed Hand eczema . It doesn't look like Scabies at all .
Eczema is usually exacerbated in winters in most of the people but it may occur in summer also. If a person has predisposition to develop eczema on skin , it may spread to involve other sites also.
So you need not to worry. It is eczema only and is not a contagious disease.
In such cases, I prefer to advise topical steroid like mometasone to my patients. Also you should keep your skin properly moisturised so as to prevent or minimize spread of eczema.
Antihistaminics like levocetrizine also help.
You should visit your doctor so that he can examine you and give you prescription accordingly.
You can share my opinion with him.
I hope it helps.
Take care.

Thanks! I checked with my dermatologist today and she definitely agreed its not scabies (thank goodness) but it looked more like an allergic reaction rather than eczema to her. She gave me Psorcon to use twice a day.
