Brief Answer:
Elevated blood pressure

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for contacting HCM with your health care concerns

You are experiencing an elevated blood pressure and an elevated heart rate. Both of these levels are not at dangerous levels. I would not recommend you seek immediate attention at this time. I would recommend that you be sure you are taking your medication correctly. Metoprolol is either taking once or twice daily for hypertension depending on the brand. Please check your bottle and take the correct dosage.

I would also recommend that you take your blood pressure daily and record those levels. If your blood pressure is consistently elevated above 140/90 or you pulse rate is above 90 then you may need adjustments in your medication

To help maintain good blood pressure reduce the salt or sodium in your diet, exercise regularly, reduce caffeine, reduce alcohol and do not take medication that can elevate pressure like decongestants.

In summary
1. Not emergent level of blood pressure
2. Record daily BP and pulse rate
3. Take medication as directed
4. If blood pressure > 140/90 or Pulse rate > 90 may need medication adjustment
5. Reduce sodium in diet, exercise regularly, reduce caffeine, reduce alcohol
6. Avoid OTC medication that contain decongestants

I hope this answers your question. Please contact HCM again with your health care questions or concerns
