Question : I am 75 year old female. Recent blood work shows WBC 5.6 but high lymph 56% absolute 3.1. No swollen lymph liver or spleen. I am worried abt CLL. Blood work 18 months ago WBC 5.6 lymph 42% absolute 2.2. I had a recent cold but no fever.

Hello dear.

Welcome to HCM. I understand your concern.

A borderline elevated lymphocyte count after a recent cold should not cause any undue worry.

Its most likely due to the viral infection, moreover for CLL to be diagnosed there must be at least some evidence of atypical smudge cells on peripheral blood picture which is not the case here.

You can repeat the blood counts after a week or so. I do not advise any further tests at this time.
