Question: hi
I am 28yrs female. I am unmarried. I have pcod for last 15yrs. I have been using 5 tabs of registron from 15yrs to get my periods. Recently i have got severe pelvic pain then i got scan done. My doctor saw the report and told ovary is enlarged and twisted. I got laparoscopic done. Doctor told they have untwisted the ovary and remove water from it and stiched with out further torsion. Doctor prescribed ginette 35 tablet (21 tabs) from now. My question is

Brief Answer:
PCOD has enlarged ovaries

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for your query.

I have read you query and I understand your concerns about ovarian torsion.

Following is my reply:

1) Ovaries are enlarged in women with PCOD. Since PCOD comes by birth, ovaries are also enlarged and you cannot do anything to prevent it.

2) Laparoscopy might lead to adhesions ( meaning sticking of one organ to another). Anyway it does not happen to everyone who undergoes laparoscopy.

3) Ginette 35 wont have considerable side effects to be worried about. You can take it.

4) If you are obese , please lose weight. Weight loss will help you in regularising periods.

I hope I answered you query and addressed your concerns.

Let me know if you wish to ask any further questions. I will be glad to help you.

Regards,
Dr. Soumya

Brief Answer:
Dont worry about PCOD

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

You cannot prevent it. It is not likely to twist again. You dont need to do anything about it.

You can conceive after marriage. PCOD wont affect fertility.

Increased bowel movements are normal because of gas in abdomen. It will correct soon by itself. Dont worry about it.

Brief Answer:
You can get pregnant without any problem

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

1) You have to see a dietician to get proper diet chart. I wont be able to provide a chart.

2) Ginette 35 wont help you in long term. PCOD is a permanent ntity and cant be cured with drugs.

3) You dont need to do anything actively to avoid twisting of ovary.

4) Belly point pain after laparoscopy is common and will reduce slowly.

5) There is no need to undergo any procedure before trying for pregnancy. Start anytime.

6) No particular food for PCOD.
